I read a lot of blog posts from so-called "thought leaders" in the tech community. One thing a lot of these posts have in common is a title that's just a single word, often an abstract noun meant to invoke wonder, curiousity, authority, or awe (probably all four).

At some point in my life I did think or feel that way when I read such posts. You could even say I looked up to these people.

But now I can't help but laugh at how ridiculous it is.[1] They're actors in a play. When the script changed, so did they.[2]
